Why PCI Comply | Remco Software

Why the Need for Industry Compliance?

2.8.08

Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, and Discover require all merchants that process, store, or transmit credit card information must comply with the PCI Standard. This clause is included in merchant agreements and states that PCI compliance is necessary to process credit cards. Non-compliance can warrant fines up to $500,000 per incident plus bank expenses. Additional liability may involve lawsuits under gross negligence. This means that you or your management can be personally sued as liable for not taking the proper steps to secure your data, and most insurance companies will not provide coverage for this. (For this reason, it is important to document your compliance.)

Hackers use automated tools that find servers and applications with out-of-date patches and known vulnerabilities. They then launch automated attacks to compromise your network and data. So even if your property(s) is not being specifically targeted, it’s being scanned by hackers right now. Remco’s NiteComply will effectively address industry compliance by required testing, validation, documentation and training.

Keep in mind, the cost of PCI Certification is extremely low relative to the potential loss, so don’t let yourself think you can’t afford to protect your property(s). Contact a Sales Professional today to find out more about NiteComply for your organization.
